Chapter 2 : Boyfriend Cheating?

Avalon University treats its professors and above quite well, offering private offices that can be chosen based on personal preference. Lucas chose the one at the end of the hallway. Every afternoon, sunlight would filter through the leaves and scatter at the office door, creating a serene scene that Lucas loved. Unfortunately, this was the first class of the day, so he wouldn''t get to see that view. He headed towards his office.

Along the way, many teachers greeted him, "Mr. Smith, class over?"

"Yes. And you?"

"I''m heading to the lounge."

"Take care."

The teachers were used to Lucas''s aloof nature, so they didn''t find anything unusual about it. Lucas fished out his keys from his pocket, ready to unlock the door. Just as he opened it, a figure in light green slipped into his office ahead of him.

Lucas stopped and saw that it was the student who had audited his class today. He hated such impolite behavior. "Excuse me, I don''t recall allowing you into my office, nor did you knock."

Cody, without turning his head, walked to the sofa, stretched out his long arms, crossed his long legs, and looked at Lucas with a half-smile. "Mr. Smith, I''m not your student."

Lucas began placing his books on the desk in their original order. He had OCD; everything had to be in its ideal state, from tall to short, from thick to thin. Frequently used items were placed together, and less frequently used items were placed together. As Harold would say, it was overly meticulous.

"If you''re not a student, then we probably have nothing to discuss. Please leave."

Cody propped his head up and watched Lucas meticulously arrange his books. "Why are you in such a hurry to kick me out, Mr. Smith?"

"Then please get to the point. I need to leave soon." Lucas finished arranging his books, washed his hands, and sat in his chair, looking at the person on the sofa.

"Let me introduce myself, Cody."

Cody? That name sounded familiar. Wasn''t that Cody from the Wilson Family, the young Alpha heir? He seemed to recall Harold mentioning a pampered young uncle who was actually a few years younger than him. Although still in school, Cody was already the new head of the Wilson Family.

Was this the young brat in front of him? He didn''t look mature or steady, more like a spoiled rich kid. But whoever he was, it had nothing to do with Lucas. He remained indifferent. "Oh, do you need something from me?"

"Of course, I''m here to help you identify a sweet-talking, cheating scumbag."

Lucas was puzzled. What did a sweet-talking, cheating scumbag have to do with him? Could this legendary top Alpha Cody really be out of his mind?

Seeing Lucas''s confused expression, Cody realized he didn''t know about Harold''s romantic escapades. It seemed his nephew was quite the deceiver, fooling this supposedly impressive Omega professor completely.

"Harold is getting engaged. You didn''t know?" Cody''s words hit Lucas like a thunderbolt.

Harold, getting engaged? How could that be? Just yesterday, they were sweetly living together, embracing each other to sleep. How could he suddenly become someone else''s fiancé?

But Lucas wasn''t a young kid like them; he was almost 30, a mature adult. "Why should I believe you?"

Cody raised an eyebrow. Interesting, even after introducing himself, he still didn''t believe him? He sighed, "Alright, let me show you some proof." Cody took out his phone and found a post from his sister Alice Williams. "If you don''t believe me, see for yourself."

He handed the phone to Lucas. On the screen was a photo from their engagement agreement. In the photo, Harold was holding a slender, beautiful girl, smiling happily.

There was also a photo of the two sharing a sweet kiss. The happy smiles of the couple on the phone screen were blinding to Lucas. He and Harold could never openly share such intimate moments in the sunlight. He couldn''t quite describe his feelings at that moment; it was like a mix of various spices, a complex blend of emotions.

Lucas and Harold had met in college. Harold was a 19-year-old freshman, and Lucas was a 25-year-old PhD student. At first sight, Harold was a member of a top Alpha family, flamboyant and unrestrained, while Lucas was a beautiful and reserved Omega. Despite their differences, they connected through Plato, got to know each other, and eventually came together because of their shared ideals, becoming a celebrated couple.

But now, everything had changed, and it all seemed absurd. "He and this girl?" How long had they known each other? How long had they been dating? Who was the third party, him or the girl? He couldn''t bring himself to ask these questions.

Cody, however, seemed to read his mind. "They''ve known each other since childhood and had a marriage agreement. The Omega girl came back, so their parents are arranging their marriage."

"Are... they in love?" Lucas didn''t know how he managed to ask this question.

"Yes, you could say it''s mutual affection."

If it was mutual affection, then what was he to Harold? Everyone knew he had a loving boyfriend, but was it all just empty talk? All that talk about loving Plato and spiritual romance was just nonsense, all bullshit! What did Harold want from him?

Lucas never showed his emotions easily in front of others. "So, you came to ask me to leave him?"

Cody thought for a moment. "Helping you avoid a scumbag, isn''t that good?"

Lucas was always decisive. He took out his phone, found Harold''s number and all his social media contacts, and blocked and deleted them all in one go. He had a severe cleanliness obsession, both physically and mentally. Since Harold had already betrayed him, he wouldn''t have any lingering feelings. He showed Cody his phone. "I''ve deleted everything. I won''t contact him again. You can rest assured."

Cody clicked his tongue. Did he, the great heir of the Wilson Family, just become a messenger? Not even a thank you, and it was over just like that?

"Anything else? If not, Mr. Wilson, please leave. I need to get ready to go home."

"Don''t you have anything else to say to me?"

"Should I have something to say to you?"

Cody wanted to get angry, but Lucas was genuinely looking at him, as if seriously asking. So, he was just being self-indulgent?

"Aren''t you going to thank me? I did save you from a burning fire."

That was true, but philosophy teaches us to trace effects back to causes. Cody had his reasons for helping him. "Why did you tell me?"

Cody didn''t hide it. "Because I hate Harold."

Just... just that? That''s it?

"Is it that simple?"

Cody didn''t understand. "Yes, it''s that simple. Why?"

Lucas''s disbelieving look made it seem like he suspected Cody had ulterior motives. Cody was annoyed. "Are you accusing me of sabotage?"

Lucas thought for a moment. "No, I thought you were a traditional parent who would give me a check or something if I didn''t agree."

Cody laughed. "You''re really something, Mr. Smith."

Lucas glanced at his watch. It was almost noon, and he needed to hurry home to feed his fish. In a rush, he said, "I need to go home. Goodbye," and started to run out.

Cody grabbed his wrist. "In such a hurry?"

"To feed my fish. They haven''t eaten all day."

This guy, after wasting half a day talking, didn''t even think to invite him for a meal. And he was worried about those two lousy fish at home? This was the first time in his life someone didn''t treat him, Cody, like a treasure. This beautiful Omega professor had piqued his interest. It had been a long time since someone made him feel so invigorated.
